Didier Cautin: consultant in scheduling and IT production

At the age of 55, Didier Cautin is a senior consultant, an expert in scheduling. Before specialising in this field, he held different positions in IT Production which complement his knowledge. This atypical career path led him straight to his present position; with logic and serenity.

Initially printer operator then console operator, Didier Cautin progressed quickly to become team leader, systems operations analyst then production engineer and  IT consultant at Sun Microsystems, it was then bought by Oracle. Finally he embarked as an independent with Diama’s Conseil.

A self-made man, Didier Cautin can proudly offer his multiple skills at the same time. In fact, he masters the different environments Mainframe, Window and Unix, he has specialised in these environments step by step throughout his career. However he has always remained skilled in one of the three cornerstones of his profession which he continues to use regularly.

Expert « heterogeneous » in scheduling

It is not surprising, taking into account his experience that Didier Cautin has given many training sessions on various software solutions, alongside his consulting work.  Today he has decided to pass on his knowledge solely by way of consulting. Here are the scheduling software which he masters and which he knows how to migrate together:

  • Autosys
  • Control-M
  • TWS
  • $Universe
  • Open JobScheduler

Personal projects « Geek Tech » the family way

Geek tech

Beyond the IT Production and scheduling, Didier Cautin has a multi-faceted professional life which blends naturally his professional skills and his personal world.

Willing and involved, he develops multiple projects simultaneously:

Developing a simulator for automobile driving, hardware compatible with video games : The Cars, RFactor, and iRacing. The idea is : offer a high level mechanism (cockpit on 6 axes + pedals + steering wheel + immersion FPV) just like the one we can see only in specialised centres – at last accessible and affordable.  He is developing this project with his family, his sons Alexandre and Maxime.
He is adventuring more and more into 3D printing. He has in fact recently built an « add-on » interesting project which is very Greek. Sphero in which he imagined a module of an add-on product on a 3D printer.  He posted the plans on the internet free of charge and hence gained quick success within the Sphero and Thingiverse communities.
He regularly pilots a small fleet of drones (from Parrot to Immersion RC also DJJ, Jpay, and Eachine) with which at the moment he is aiming to obtain DNC certification on 2 types of piloting:

  • Exploration for studies and photogrammetry in a business manner in sight or on immersion,
  • FPV Racing (beginner) with fast drones which are highly manoeuvrable in immersion vision.
